Chief Ladiga Trail

Chief Ladiga Trail will have its last 7 miles to the GA stateline to connect to Silver Comet Trail in the spring. It is the state's first rail-to-trails project that will connect Anniston to Atlanta. It will be used for jogger, cyclists, and hiking enthusiasts.

I wish metro Birmingham would follow up with a trail system that could be connected to it, and so forth around the state.

It's nice to see these extensive trails in places like Anniston, Hattiesburg, MS, and Slidell, LA, but I'd like

to see more from our larger cities, too.

Well, I just found out from my internship at the East Alabama Planning and Development Commission and The Anniston Star that ALDOT might cut funding for the final leg of the trail through Anniston from Mike Tucker Park to Anniston Middle School. This is all due to ALDOT mismanaging funds and the FHWA and USDOT forcing them to give the federal funds back. ALDOT is going to lose $65.75 million because of this.
