I wonder how hard it would be to move trees that are that old. They might not make the move.

The DOT tried to cut them down about 20 years ago or so. A "little old lady in tennis shoes" ( a variant of the NIMBY phenomia) put a stop to that. Have you noticed how much better the Mahan trees are maintained on the Leon side of the county line than on the Jefferson side? I enquired of a road crew the other day that I met in the Hilltop Diner out on East Mahan. They said that the DOT maintains the trees on the Leon side of hightway, while Jefferson county has a low bid private company doing the work. Three cheers for the DOT.
