DeMint's resignation will have ripples across the state in multiple offices.  If for instance Tim Scott is appointed, then his House seat would open up.  Paul Thurmond would no doubt run.  If he won, he would resign his state senate seat, opening the door for Charleston City Councilman Paul Tinkler to run again (he lost by a handful of votes to Thurmond in a special election this year).
