Downtown Mobile

Mayor Sam Jones wants to build a downtown boat slip for dinner cruises and waterfront tours. The boat slip would be built on 200 feet of city land between the convention center and the state docks to the north.

Mayor Jones would also like to build a riverfront walkway from the boat slip to the cruise terminal, connecting the convention center, Cooper Riverside Park and the proposed maritime museum. The city expects to hire a construction manager soon for the maritime museum.

Miscellaneous photos today of downtown Mobile and RSA Battle House tower the tallest building in the state at 745 feet tall.

Mobile has a fantastic skyline for a city of its size.    RSA Battle House tower taller than anything in New Orleans or Tampa/St Pete on the gulf coast but of course Houston is the king of highrises of the Gulf Coast.   Lots of photos but I only get to Mobile every once in a while!  and some interior photos of the original Battle House hotel connected to the new tower.

My extensive walk around downtown Mobile this week.  This city punches way above its size in terms of skyline with the tallest building in Alabama and taller than anything in the mid south (TN, AL, MS)

Love those lofts on Dauphin St.   Mobile is a cleaner smaller version of New Orleans and has an older Mardi Gras celebration to boot!

I really like Mobile for its skyline and downtown it is a clean as a whistle unlike another nearby big city with its famous Mardi Gras

Only my 3rd time downtown and the more I see the more I like it.
