Nashville International Airport Development thread

Yes they are. Dulles is the newest airport to welcome Southwest. That happened earlier this week and this just shows how committed SWA is to Nashville. To add us to their inaguaral list of cities serving a brand new destination is cool.

Lexy, somewhere you listed Southwest's focus cities, and I can't find them anywhere. What are they again?

Nashville

Los Angeles

Orlando

Phoenix

Chicago

Dallas (homebase)

Houston

Tampa

Las Vegas

Oakland

Baltimore

That is the complete list of Focus Cities (Hubs) for Southwest.

These things take time. Airplanes generally take a year or so to build, so there could be one that is being built now. But I don't know for sure. I can ask some of my Southwest "insiders" tonight though.

Do you happen to know when the time line is for starting up that service though?

Pretty soon I believe.

You all should check this thread out over in Arkansas.

Just posted this link on the Arkansas site. It seems that TN has the 2nd highest amount of Japanese investment of any state in the country bar California. I think that gives SOME city in TN pretty durn good odds of attracting a direct flight to Japan. Here's the link:

The fact that some people (who really haven't got a clue) just writes it off that Nashville will NEVER get a flight of this nature just baffles me. And then when they try to back up their statement with false information I laugh at them. What a crock.

I work fulltime for Pearl Drums. But I am a member of the Nashville Aviation Photographers. We document the airport, have members that work for Southwest, some that are even high up at certain airlines here and some that work at the airport. That is how we get out on the ramps and runways so often.

An example of our pictures...

From the taxi-way on runway 2 Left.

You can find more of our work on Jetphotos.net and Airliners.net.

In total, there is about 50 of us that are routinely talking via email, cellphone, or in person. Heck, a few out of our gorup live in Arizona! At any given moment there may be two or three of us out at the overlook taking pictures. I can tell you that one of our "members" is in a pretty high up position at the airport. I can't tell who or what position due to his privacy. But I assure you, he is a more than reliable source of information as he sits in on all the big meetings and such.

As for my pics of Nashville and such. Weekends my friend, weekends.

This is what you get if you just ask the right people.....

Hey Lexy...I'm gonna post this on here for everyone to see because I know some may know what I'm talking about from past discussions.

Maybe a month or so ago...you and I (and a few others) had a heated disagreement about suburbs vs. the urban fabric. I just wanted to say to you that I have no hard feelings...I love your posts...and I hope you and anyone I may have offended that day will forgive my brashness.

Now...back to your regularly scheduled progam...

LOL @ titanhog. Forget about it man. I have no hard feelings toward anyone as well. We can all agree on one thing, and that is sometimes we agree to disagree on certain things. LOL!!! Just chalk it up as a bad day or two.

This is an open invitation.

If anyone wants to see what I do as far as pics at the airport goes and possibly get some interesting info and insight, come see me tomorrow morning at the observation area. I will be there around 5am till a little before 8am.

China Airlines Cargo has an ETA of 5:30am-6:00am. I am going to be there with my wife shooting the landing and takeoff of the giant 747. Stop by over at the observation area on Vultee Blvd. and say "hey" and watch an amazing sight. If anything, it will make for great conversation and I may let you all in on a little of the info I have but can't post. LOL!!! Kinda like a mini-meet.

That actually sounds really cool even though it is so early :shok: Sadly, I can't make it since I'm still out of state, is there anything exciting coming up in August or is that still too far out?

Yes there is actually, JetBlue starts flying on the 31st and China Airlines is here everyday but Tuesdays. So there is plenty of chances to catch them again. I am scheduled to go aboard one of their planes soon, not sure of a date yet though.
