Spirit announced Oct. 9 it would start flying nonstop in early 2020 from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to Nashville, the Tennessee capital. Daily nonstop service to Nashville will begin March 26.

I love how our airport is keeping pace with our city's growth. If anything, BNA seems to be one step ahead of the city itself.

All this record growth at BNA is wearing out the famous carpet.  Last night I noticed a section is being replaced with....

The same design!!!!

One of the workers stepped aside to get out of the shot.  I said, "This carpet is quite famous!"  He said, "I know.  It's crazy."

BNA should auction off the old squares to help pay for the expansion.

The airport expansion has landed two more permits: One is for $30 million for the 10,000 sq. ft. addition and interior renovation to the tower and terminal areas.  The other is for $4.45 million towards renovations and rehab of existing concourses.

Wow, 3x weekly to CUN and 10 weeklies to MCO show a lot of faith in a market that they’ve had one day of experience in! Love their vision, though. I also love that all their domestic flights are at least daily. That’s the hard part about trying to fly F9 or G4, their flights are sub-daily and super seasonal so it hardly ever works if you have specific days you need to leave and return.

The new service, which will officially launch on Feb. 27, 2020, will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.  BNA to CUN.

MILESTONE: Today, we celebrated the topping-out of BNA's next Terminal Garage and Airport Administrative Building with our friends at Messer Construction Co. The last steel beam has now been placed at the highest point of the project!

The Nashville International Airport’s web site has apparently been hacked and has been out of service since last week.  All that appears on www.flynashville.com is the flight arrival and departure information.  The airport’s spokesperson confirmed today that the web site had been hacked and that they were working to get it up again as quickly as possible.  Certainly hope this isn’t another situation like Atlanta and other municipalities where they are forced to pay  to retrieve their web site.

I hadn't really paid attention to the website, but now I have heard from multiple circles that the website was hacked. Wishing them all the best and hope they recover quickly. Hopefully, the delay is just ongoing investigation and securing lose ends to prevent any repeat

Website is back up, probably from an older backup as the Airport Data was only up through June of this year.

Just redesign it to be more fresh and modern, because it’s not very appealing and the color palate used is terrible.

A major overhaul to the Nashville International Airport’s concessions program will bring dozens of new tenants in 2020, including a local taco shop and a Southern food staple.

Fraport USA and airport officials on Friday unveiled the first retailers and restaurateurs set to open this spring as part of a high-profile makeover of the concessions program that will include more than 90 new tenants by 2023.

Among the first new restaurants planned to open at BNA are local taco shop Bajo Sexto, Mediterranean eatery Pyramids Café, Southern staple Swett’s Restaurant and health food shop The Urban Juicer. In addition, roughly 50 stores will open next year, including NaSah’s Nail Salon, The Arts District Market, Greetings from Nashville and Tennessee Brew Works.

Other confirmed future tenants include Shake Shack, the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum store, Kijiji Coffee House, Peg Leg Porker, Prince’s Hot Chicken, the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, MAC Cosmetics and Starbucks Reserve.

Las Vegas-based Allegiant Travel Co. announced Tuesday plans to establish next year an operations base at Nashville International Airport, representing a $50 million investment and yielding at least 66 high-wage jobs.

According to a release, BNA will become the low-cost airline’s 19th aircraft base. The facility will house two Airbus aircraft and will be operational Feb. 13.
