I live a mile from that new Shake Shack and it has had problems for sure.  Long waits for cold food.  Makes no sense to me.  Hopefully they will get it figured out.

Big problems.  Last time I was there none of the kiosks worked and the person taking the orders was VERY slow.  We have neighbor's kids who worked there.  Apparently the turn-over from the upper mgmt all the way down has been terrible.   We have been to others in different parts of the country and they were much better.   Hopefully this location can figure it out.  But the worker shortage is crippling.  Teenagers gladly just quit to work somewhere else where they make $1 more and their friends are working too.

Looks like work is being done on the Donelson Pike relocation.  It appears a retaining wall is being built next to 20L.

I have my first flight in 3 months on Friday. If anyone has any special requests for updates in the South Terminal, please let me know. I did a pickup last week and noticed sheetrock up for Puckett's between D-3 and 4.

Flew back to DC from BNA last Tuesday afternoon, first time seeing all the construction. It'll be VERY nice when it's done...bit chaotic and lacking in enough amenities to make for a comfortable wait right now, though. Dining options in the South Terminal (C/D) at least are limited, and what was available was quite crowded. Hung out in the AA Admiral's Club for a minute, but it too was crowded and a bit dumpy compared to other lounges in other airports. Very much in need of a refresh. Looking forward to the new sit-down dining being built (especially Yazoo and TailGate!). It'll also be nice when you can make it to the North Terminal (A/B) from the South again without having to go through security, that will open up the options if one side is more crowded than the other.

Here we go:

*View from garage 1 looking at the terminal. Lots of work left to do!

*Tennessee Tribune store at the C/D elbow

*Bongo Java coming to the small space next to Tootsies adjacent to C-4.

*The beer stand, Hudson news, Inmotion, and Starbucks have all ceased to be at the C dogleg. No signage of what's to come but I was incorrect in assuming it would be ole red. This is actively being demo-ed and is very noisy in the gate area.

*Airessentials to the other end of the C dogleg across from Urban Juicer

*Southernaire to the former relocated fly babies spot between tailgate and C-16

*Ole red coming to the dogleg, ironically give or take where the old stage was with the tv behind it that was usually set to ESPN. Seating area is between the sheetrock for ole red and tailgate.

*Opry shop coming to the in line space next to James Avery.

Had a lovely dinner at party fowl. There needs to be better signage to delineate between sit down waiting, to go ordering, and to go from the bar. My plane to LAS is an hour behind schedule. I don't miss flying every week!

In a way, yes...........it is probably part of the runway work, but in anticipation for the relocation.   The TDOT project hasn't gone to the Letting process yet.

The secure side of the "outer" elbow at C/D, which formerly was a large mural sign for good things to come, is undressed and it looks like new sheetrock. Not sure how much space is between the end of green beans and that wall, but something is happening back there.

Sept. 1,443,524 passengers. 
Oct. 1,663,592 passengers. 
BNA still waiting for British Airways return until next month on December 9th.

Nashville International Airport, on the front lines of the region’s rapid growth, is already gearing up for its next major expansion with a new construction plan named ‘Beyond Vision.’

Work could start as soon as two months after the current ‘Vision’ expansion is complete in late 2023, following action Wednesday by airport leadership. 

‘Beyond Vision’ will secure BNA’s upgrade from a large medium-sized airport, to a small large-sized airport on par with the nation’s tier-1 markets — a status that could cement the region’s long-term reputation as a top U.S. market for investors.

On Wednesday, Metro Nashville Airport Authority board members unanimously approved a $1 million finance, concept and schedule analysis to begin work as soon as possible.

Part of Beyond Vision is to increase the 41 BNA gates to 69 gates in the coming decade.

Thanks for posting the diagram.  Obv can't get past paywall for Tennessean. 

So then my assumption that this diagram is ALL the current phase. Reason I wonder is because this diagram shows apx. 69 gates (couple are split gates), and the article about the next phase mentions the increase in gates to 69.  Makes me wonder how passengers for all the gates will funnel through the concourses and then through the terminal entrance/exit.  Then there's the question about the new concourse across Donelson Pike and what phase that will include.  

UPDATE: I never trust what I read in the Tennessean as either new or factual information. So in that vein, my suspicions that these are two different phases were confirmed. From the BNA Vision press release from last month:  https://bnavisionnashville.com/2021/10/

Notably, this project is part of a second major phase of expansion at Nashville International Airport. The first slate of projects under way now and set for completion in 2023 include a new Hilton-branded hotel, a state-of-the-art International Arrivals Facility and terminal lobby expansion and renovation. Projects already completed under the first phase include a new Concourse D, new ticketing wings and baggage claim space, Terminal Garages 1 and 2, and a new administrative office building.

The second group of projects will add even more capacity to serve rising demand for air travel projected to continue beyond 2023. These projects include a free-standing satellite concourse and Concourse A ramp expansion.

The initial BNA vision was phased, phase 1 was Concourse D, the apron hole fill project, the ticketing and baggage claim expansion, the new garages, and Administration building and plaza. 

They’re building out phase 2 of BNA vision now, the expanded main terminal, the third Terminal garage and hotel, the new canopy roof, and the relocated Donelson Pike and interchange. 
 

Beyond Vision is a second set of projects,  the Councourse A expansion, and the Concourse D expansion. Based on the Tennessean article they’re also planning a new Air Freight building.
 

The Satellite Concourse that is about to start construction wasn’t part of the initial BNA vision plan, but will be needed when Concourse A is demolished for the rebuild. The airport is about to start filling in land adjacent to Concourse A so that they can build over it in a few years. We also have the runway extension to look forward to as well, gonna be a really busy 5-10 years at the airport.

Departure lanes closed tonight and tomorrow night after 830. I guess the airport and the steel guys dusted off the book of bad ideas just in time for Thanksgiving. Safe travels to everyone on the move this week.

Picked up our daughter at the airport last night (Sunday). Traffic entering BNA was backed up nearly a mile down I-40 coming from town.   No reason we could see other than holiday week volume.   Just nuts.

October 29th. 2021 from Hensley Phelps  

Steel making progress! The Nashville International Airport Terminal Lobby and International Arrivals Facility team began work for the future International Arrivals Facility that required excavation of over 44,000 cubic yards of rock and 18 foot-deep concrete foundation walls. Steel erection is now set in motion. 

Fun Fact: when complete, the expansion area will span over 220,000 square feet and require 1,840 tons of steel!
