I bet the airport authority is so mad about this leak lol. They've been waiting to make this announcement for years. I mean, they managed to make the city curious for days over a freaking Calgary flight but couldn't keep quiet about this one.

I mean, it's still special because we don't know whether it's to Heathrow or Gatwick. The former is obviously the big ticket and the latter isn't as highly prized.

Gatwick is more for the European and (relatively) close Asian destinations, as well as a few Caribbean locations. From the US, I believe there are just a few direct flights from NY, Orlando, and Chicago. Regardless, I'd bet on Heathrow.

Beautiful!  My dad was an engineer for Eastern Airlines when we lived in Miami.  He probably would've stayed with the company had they not wanted him to transfer to Newark (yuck).  I love this shot of the old BNA terminal, too.

So is that original terminal still on the airport property? Or was it town down?

As said, it was demolished and is now just concreted over. Curiously, the driveway green leading up to it is still there:

The circular green patch in the distance was in front of the original terminal where the cars would drive up. They later built another building, the TN Dept. of Transportation-Aeronautics in the middle of the circle.

It looks like that 3rd pic was taken after BNA was made an American hub.  Additional gates were quickly built where the observation terrace used to be to accommodate the increased traffic.  A lot of airports in those days had observation decks which was where you'd find my brothers and me on many summer days when school was out.  I'd also forgotten just how little parking was needed at the old terminal.
