Someone mentioned the fins are supposed to be approx. 7 stories in height. Keep in mind, in terms of occupied floors, the Pinnacle is much shorter than it appears due to the glass obscuring the HVAC/etc. up top.

With this in mind, it begs the question, why don't more developments have some kind of crown? The fins on top of Pinnacle or the soon to be topped out Bridgestone tower are purely cosmetic. No occupied floors. It can't be that much more expensive to complete the look of the building.

Makes our skyline look incredibly small

The best thing that can happen is in fact happening now. Keep building and broadening the SoBro skyline. The makeup of two skylines inside the loop isn't terrible and protects Nashvilles historic entertainment district. Density is the key here and one street splitting the difference isnt a total failure imo.

That's what I've been thinking Nashville will end up looking like. 2 skylines. Unless you look from certain perspectives or from a far back enough vantage to include the Gulch and Midtown mini-skylines (for a lack of a better term), it'll always have that large gap.

I think, from overhead at least, it will resemble more a crescent shape...

Actually...I mentioned that with the "fins", we have what equals about 7 more stories to go from where we are right now, if you go back and count what is on the original render.  The fins look to be equal to 3-4 stories on the east side.

People gripping, b!t@#ing, complaining, moaning, etc. about Vanderbilt purchasing the former Noshville deli site should remember that, while it may be used as a parking lot now, the future is bright because this the same Vanderbilt that just completed this little gem, a block away .....

Looks like UT (except for Kirkland Hall's tower).

The new Vandy/Barnard College halls (u/c to the left in photo) will be more ornate, and nearly as tall.  The "bell" tower of the new buildings will be on the inside of the quad. That is going to be one solid wall of buildings all the way beyond Carmichael towers, with a little break at the old gym (23rd Avenue).

Hopefully 5th and Broadway will bridge the gap between ATT and Pinnacle.

5th and Broad should be a great start and hopefully Bridgestone will build that hotel pretty much right on Broadway at some point too.  Also, the JWM, Embassy/Curio, and Cambria will help pull the skyline more to the southwest, which I think will help.
