Wasn't everything in SoBro virtually a surface lot and industrial warehouses 20 years ago. Now, everything down to at least KVB felt like an extension of downtown when I was there.

I'm from Detroit. If any city has the right to complain about a stagnant downtown / skyline over the past 20 years, it's us. Fortunately, that may be changing very soon.

BTW, I think it's a good time to drop this photo in here again. It doesn't include the Tri-Brand Marriott or the JW Marriott. And of course, it's also excluding the places that will soon be under construction (SAP, Mainland, 5th & Broadway, The Joseph and Embassy-Curio will all change the skyline).

The difference is only from 2011. Go back 5 more years (minus the Pinnacle building & The Encore) and the change is even more noticeable.

To the best of my observations/memory, here are some numbers on tower cranes within Davidson County:

Currently, there are 27 up.

There could be as many as 16 more up by the end of the year.

There have been 22 down since the turn of the year as buildings have topped-out.

I was watching the David Feherty show last night on the golf channel and he was interviewing Darius Rucker. They were at the country music hall of fame with a pretty nice backdrop. Quality of photo is poor since its a picture of a tv.

The City hosted The Seniors (golf cart) Tour and LPGA golf along with the LPGA Open in the 80's.

Golf is one of my favorite sports to watch - to each their own though. 

There has been a web.com tour event at Nashville Golf and Athletic Club the past two years.

In the late 90s or early 00s they definitely had an LPGA tourney out at Legends in Franklin.  We just went to watch them at the driving range and they were so accurate, it was insane.
