TBT: Pinnacle Tower time lapse construction video from '08/'09. It was less than 10 years ago that this 29 story, 417 foot beauty went up in the barren SoBro neighborhood. Now, there are 9 other 19+ story buildings around it, with another 10 on the way.  Not to mention another dozen 10-18 stories that are done or soon-to-be underway.

I originally thought it was from the quarry near the airport, but it is a telescoped view from Stones River just below the dam.

BTW, this may be the quarry near the airport,   (2010 foods)

It is being used to cool the airport now.

An abandoned rock quarry near a runway at Nashville International Airport was thought to be such a liability that authorities considered filling it in a decade ago. Now, the water-filled pit is enabling the airport to save $430,000 a year.

The system pumps hot water from the terminal’s cooling plant to stainless steel heat exchangers submerged about 50 feet under the reservoir’s surface. The heat exchangers are about the size of an SUV and work similarly to a car radiator. Water enters at about 79 degrees, is cooled by the surrounding reservoir water, and returns to the plant at about 63 degrees.

The quarry in the video is located off Robertson Avenue in Cockrill Bend. I think it is or was owned by Rogers Group. Filled up with seven billion gallons of water in five hours, took months to pump out.

It’s better than the current one we see all the time that makes our skyline look like it only has a couple of buildings. Personally I love this shot. It almost shows the entire skyline.

 I love E.S. Rose this time of year, in one 360  degree view you can see the Reservoir,  new Belmont towers,  the additions at Vanderbilt Childrens, the Carmichael Towers,  Sylvan Summit, The Aertson, Adelicia, The Morris, Skyhouse, The Element, 1212, new HCA tower, Terrazo, Icon, JW Marriott, Westin,  Nissan Stadium, Korean Veterans Bridge, Styx,  Ft Negley, and the Adventure Science Center.
