Does anyone know the material on the BofA crown? It looks amazing, but I would bet it's not the most expensive crown either.

• When lit at night the building's top resembles a multi-tiered tiara and is often referred to as being Charlotte's crown.
• Its crown contains 384 aluminum rods, that vary in length from 12 to 62 feet and each weighing between 800 and 4,500 pounds and utilizes 350 lights to illumniate it at night.

It’s an incredible building. My personal favorite from my hometown is Charlotte, is the Hearst building, right down the street.

I was pondering all of the $100 million and higher projects that have been proposed in the past several years, and thought a little progress report was in order.  It is quite pleasing that so many of them are well under way, or looking quite good.

COMPLETE:
505 CST: $155 million
Rolling Mill Hill: 150+ million (5 different apt/condo projects)
Aertson: 110+ million

UNDER CONSTRUCTION:
Vertis Green Hills: $125 million
Capitol View: $180 million (Phases 1-3) of eventual $400 million (Phases 4-6)
The Gulch: $700+ million on 11 new buildings and 10 rehabs.  About $250 million more in pipeline on
                         4 projects with a good chance of happening. Eventually could be even $400 million more.
Endeavor Broadway: $125 million
Nashville Yards: $1 billion. About $400 million should be built out within next 3 years.
JW Marriott: $153 million
One C1TY: $500 million. About $100 million worth either finished or about to start.
Eakin/Hensler Trolley Barns sites: $265 million. First $90 million phase underway.
Tenn. State Museum: $160 million
Tenn. State Library/Archives: $101 million
Airport Expansion: $1.25 billion. About $100 million worth either finished or underway.

This was originally Elmington Capital, then sold to Rockbridge and there are 2 or 3 companies by this name. This was supposed to include Offices, hotel, parking garages, a residential tower, grocery store, and more retail. It would have spanned the area between Demonbreun and 17th almost down to the interstate.

They are probably just land banking it at this point in time.

Welcome to the forum, GregH!  : )

The Virgin Hotel was originally listed at $100 million, but then they revised the design from two towers to one, and I think it is in the $80-90 million range now.

That is accurate. Side note, they interviewed several Nashville interior design firms to do the lobby/bar/restaurant area, but after the design change to one solid tower, they went with the "in-house" design team. Leads me to believe that for some reason, there was some significant cost-cutting after the original design was proposed. Never found out the full details, but basically they said a redesign was worth it if it meant not having to lose the Nashville hotel project. (These underlying problems are related to the start delay and slow construction pace.)
