That's because there isn't... I don't mean that in a cheeky/snarky way either, I mean your observation is correct in that there literally is no rhyme or reason or plan or structure of any kind in Houston.  I'm not a fan, personally.

Houston does not have zoning laws, but the towers have sprouted up in clumps to some extent. Most are in the downtown core, of course, but the Galleria area, the Medical Center, Uptown, and the Energy Corridor are areas with clusters of dense development.

Wow.....That is crazy. They probably could have an very impressive skyline if all of that development was just in the core. I take back every complaint I have about Nashville zoning.

Right.... because satisfying someone's aesthetic sensibilities is always a good reason to take away another person's property right.

I think the argument is that the parking garage should never have been put there in the first place, not that the small home should be knocked down to make a parking garage look better.

Mixed use is ridiculous?  Personally I'm fine with that house next to the garage.  I could ask for some street activation for the garage, but I don't want to live in a city that's too closely controlled by somebody's banal  and narrow-minded aesthetic.  

Edit:  I just re-read this and if it looks like I was calling you banal and narrow-minded, nashville, that's not what I meant.  I was thinking about things like signage restrictions which I feel almost always go too far.

But think of all the parking that's accessible for parties! I always hate trying to find parking for my guests in my neighborhood. This idea is brilliant!

The Belmont Campus has improved so much over the last 10 to 12 years. For a small modern university campus it has some great neo traditional buildings and my hat is off to them far having that vision.

They’ve grown so much even just over the past six. I graduated in 2012 and when I went back last week I didn’t even recognize the campus. It was crazy! Beautiful, though.
