Is it me, or do the upper floors of the Westin look like there's more space between them than the ones below? I'm talking ubout the top three floors.

i noticed that too, thought it was just me.

Nope--you're right! I'm looking at it now and they are definitely taller.

My guess is that these may contain some sort of "executive level" rooms or meeting space requiring higher ceilings. Or maybe the height of these floors requires extra utility space in between... Hard to say.

How cool! From the top of the hill, as of this morning I can see the concrete pump boom peeking over the top of Encore. Can't wait to see the whole thing rise above their roof.

Based on this picture, where do you think the SoBro will top out as compared to the Pinnacle? I was thinking the second setback from the top. Not sure if that's too high.

Looks like your musings are pretty accurate:

Pinnacle_VSo_Bro.png

417' (127m) vs. 345' (105m)

(Diagrams courtesy of SkyScraperPage) EDIT: which are wrong. The numbers don't match up.

Still, if you use the height lines as a guide, you can get a pretty good idea of where she will actually top out.

One of my favorite blocks downtown: 800-810 Broadway, on the northern edge between 8th and 9th, with Christ Cathedral Episcopal Church just beyond at 900 Broadway.  These three handsome buildings were erected in the early 1900's.  The  5-story structure (now housing both Morgan & Morgan and the National Labor Relations Board, has 86,000 sq. ft. of space) is one of my fantasy locations for a Drummers Hall of Fame someday.

That structure with crosses done in quoins of stone around brick was the former site where some of us attended school until 1979 ─ UTN (University of Tennessee at Nashville). For a few years, the school was housed in this building concurrently with the then-new campus building, before it all became Tennessee State Univ. - Downtown.  I attended this UT from 1977 through early 1979.

At least it and its "partners" facing Broadway have "managed" to endure.  Maybe they'll tear it down and erect a new Drummer's HoF

-=:rolleyes:=-
