You are. But it's okay. I'm going to change it's status on the thread once the the actual arch is up. Right now only the supports are up.

I love giving out-of-town guests a tour of Nashville. Last month, some friends war visiting from St. Louis. If you are ever at Bicentennial Mall State Park just north of downtown at the top of an hour, you can hear four Tennessee-themed songs in surround sound inside one of the largest outdoor carillons in the world. You can see/hear this in the video link below. Below the video link are some my buddy's comments about Nashville that he posted on Facebook after his couple of days in Nashville.
 

A very "timely" stop during our visit to Nashville. Our buddy Mark Hollingsworth took us to Bicentennial Capitol Mall, just outside of downtown, right at the top of the hour. We were able to listen to the carillon bells! The Carillons and the Court of 3 Stars is an awesome spot! There's a large, round stone court. In the middle of the court are 3 large stars which are cut and stamped into the stone. These stars represent East, Middle and West Tennessee, better known as the 3 “Grand Divisions” of the state. The court is gorgeous by itself, but then it's partially surrounded by pillars with bell towers in them (otherwise known as Carillons). These Carillons are located on the east & west side of the court. They hold 95 bells in the towers. The bells represent the 95 different counties that make up Tennessee. The Carillons play Tennessee-themed songs at the top of the hour, every hour. There is also a 96th bell, but that one is located on the grounds of the State Capitol Building and represents the government answering to the people. These Carillons are gorgeous, and you get a stunning view of the State Capitol Building.

Definitely visit Bicentennial Capitol Mall and Centennial Park! See The Parthenon if you can too. After all, Nashville IS "the Athens of the South." Ha! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centennial_Park_(Nashville) 

If you're a music fan, a drive down Music Row is cool. Music company offices and various recording studios. TONS of construction going on throughout the city. Bridgestone Arena is downtown, which hosted the NHL All-Star Game last weekend. Union Station is beautiful inside, much like the one in STL. The Nashville Sounds have a neat new minor league baseball stadium with a HUGE guitar-shaped videotron scoreboard! Can't see the field much though, because it's below ground level. You can also see the Titans' home field, Nissan Stadium. Vanderbilt's campus (right by Centennial Mall) is cool (large hospital and medical research facility) as is Belmont's. The skyline includes the AT&T Building, known as the Batman building because of it's design, and also the fact that the nighttime lights attract moths which, of course, attract bats...ha!

Couple local diners you might want to check out...Arnold's, next to Carter Vintage Guitar Center. Legendary local Southern-style diner. Also Cafe Coco on Elliston Place. It's Italian, not Southern-style, but great food.

Our buddy Mark took us all over town...a private Gray Line tour...ha! His hobby is keeping tabs on Nashville's urban planning.

The city is going through an amazing transformation, with about 60% of downtown either rebuilt or rehabbed over the past 20 years. There's a jaw-dropping amount of construction going on. When you scan the downtown area, there are cranes everywhere. 

They hosted the NHL All-Star Game over the weekend, and the NHL leadership was so impressed with the city and how they hosted all the events that they said on Monday that they'd seriously consider having it there every year, if the team owners would agree to something like that.

Progress on the 14-story Southern Land development in Green Hills.

The 2700 Charlotte project is rounding out nicely. Shot from corner of 28th and Charlotte Ave. looking northeastward.  There is going to be so much more density like this along Charlotte in the next decade.  Really something to see this unfold…who woulda thunk it even five years ago?

TBT:  SoBro in the 1870's.  Looking northward along Second Avenue from area where Howard School Municipal Building is today. Of note is how the twin spires of Downtown Presbyterian Church are the tallest structures in CBD besides the State Capitol.

Though i wish it had some sorrt of residential component, I really like the Hill Center development.  It is the perfect type of "from scratch" urbanity for neighborhoods like Green Hills.

Stix installation is finished. Lighting has been placed in the ground throughout the configuration. Still not sure if there are going to be lights at the top of each pole or not. 

 

Light fixtures in the ground.  I think there are about two dozen of them scattered around the circle.

do we know what the other options for art were for this roundabout?

Is there any possibility those poles won't bend over time?  I can't imagine a wooden pole, that tall, not eventually warping and bending.

They selected between artists and not specific pieces of art. The art was determined after the artist was selected.

I am all for public art in all sorts of forms, but I am left to think that although this has notable artistic qualities, it would be better to present it at another location.

I doubt it.  Dried wood is a brittle material and will snap rather than deform.  It would be hard to take those things down.
