Just swagging it, but I think the 30+ floor office tower that Mainland plans will plug that gap between ATT and Bridgestone quite nicely. And the JWM may be visible between ATT and R2D2.

Hi everyone!

I've been lurking for the past several weeks, but I've finally decided to make my first post. I'm really impressed by the images I've seen of Nashville.

I'm from Detroit, and you want to guess the total number of 300ft+ / 15+ story highrises we've built since the 1970s? A grand total of 3 (The 30-story Greektown Casino Hotel, the former Comerica Bank HQ and 150 West Jefferson). We would frankly kill for the type of high rise boom that Nashville is seeing. And mind you, Detroit has 5+ million people in its metro area (thus is 3 times the size of Nashville).

With Nashville's ties to the auto industry (Bridgestone, Nissan, the GM plant in Spring Hill, etc.), I've run into quite a few native Detroiters who've lived in or frequently visited Nashville and they have nothing but great things to say about the city.

I know there are some minor complaints about the lack of super-tall skyscrapers and the design of structures that are being constructed / proposed, but in reality, you all should be proud of what *IS* occurring. And frankly, I think Nashville is doing things right with respect to its downtown growth with the rapid amount of infill / canyonization taking place. So I see no reason why the super-tall skyscrapers won't come along eventually.

I will also say, I'm a little bitter about the fact that Nashville will be getting the first African American museum for music in the country (and not the birthplace of the Motown sound). But it is what it is. I'll just make sure to plan a visit when it opens in 2019. :P

Thanks for joining up a sharing!  It's great to hear an outsiders point of view.  It really tends to put things into perspective!  My parents live in St. Joseph, MI so I spend quite a bit of time in Michigan, mostly up and down the Lake Michigan coast, and although that is the opposite side of Michigan, I do make it over to Detroit on occasion.  Let me just say that I am *THRILLED* with what is going on in Detroit.  It doesn't deserve the bad wrap that it gets.  You might be envious of Nashville's highrise construction, but I can assure you that we are jealous of the new Q-Line light rail system being built in D-town, not to mention all of your beautiful historic architecture!  There seems to be a real resurgence of pride among Detroiters, and it is justified!

You're right to be disappointed that Detroit isn't the home of of the NMAAM.  It does seem like Detroit or Memphis would be a more appropriate home, but Nashville has it's own little known place in African American music history, so it's not so out of place, and I'm thrilled to see that piece of Nashville get represented.  The Hitsville USA museum in Detroit is absolutely incredible by the way, and I REALLY wish the city would invest more money into it, as it is a true treasure.

By the way, as a current Chicagoan, let me just say that Detroit style pizza is the king in my book!! :)

Still one of my most favorite developments in Nashville. It's scale is pretty spot on and the colors in the exterior are very unique. Love that aqua green glass and that yellowish Minnesota limestone.

Anyways;

Took the family down to the Preds Plaza today for the game at 5th & Broadway. Had to take the stroller for a lap at one point. This is what I saw.

Looking to east at Bridgestone from Demonbreun near 6th.

Looks to be the final roofline curtain wall going up on Bridgestone

Looking north at 505 from 5th near the plaza. Notice all the fans on the plaza cheering on the Preds

That last shot of 505 is fantastic. Fancy crown or not, that building will look beautiful when completed under its current plan. It has a very strong presence.
