As amazing as all the development has been over the past several years, I am truly dumbfounded when I think about the fact that there are still probably three or four times as many developable lots still left in the core than have been developed in that time span.

When I look at aerial photos, the first thing I think is "look at all those parking lots"

Yyyyyyyikes... I'm all for embracing our history and where we came from, but some parts of that video just need to be set on fire and buried DEEEEEEEP.  If you've ever wondered why Nashville used to have the reputation for being white bread and hickish... look no further than that video.  lol

That being said, there was a lot of interesting footage of the cityscape of that time, and I appreciate you sharing it!.

Why should they be put on fire and buried deep? That sounds more like denial than anything.

We are what we are. Our city's past is part of our history, both good moments and bad moments. If we block out the bad moments, then history might be tempted to repeat itself (in some form or fashion).

Do you not have some embarrassing memories from your childhood, your teen years, or even as an adult that shaped who you are today? Cities are the same way. With all of the glorious history that you can point to with any city, you can (nearly equally) find embarrassing or flat-out awful history. Of course, we're not as likely to introduce strangers to that sort of past (at least immediately).

Rather than be embarrassed of these moments, we should take them as what they are, recognize them, and appreciate just how much we've grown since then, and use that as a guide for our future growth.

Yeah, well said, and I agree.  I didnt actually mean that literally.  All the ho-down stuff was just a little cringeworthy, thats all.

You ho-down hater, you!! :angry::rofl:

Hahaha trust me, I am very down with a good ho down... especially if there is some moonshine involved!  I just dont think dry family friendly recreations of them should be the central theme in a large city's tourism pitch!!  Lol :P
