Wow, I can't remember the last time I saw Church Street Center in a photo.

I never went to Church Street Center (I don't think I'd moved to Nashville just yet), but the library that took its place is just fantastic.

I sure would like to see more photos of Church St Center.  Especially inside.  I miss that place.

who owns this parking lot? Could it be developed into another 4 story building?

^ ^ ^ As far as I know, it's owned by Hard Rock Cafe.  I have often thought the same thing.  Absolutely prime location that deserves more than surface parking for 30 cars.  They could even dig a two level garage underneath to be an additional revenue stream.

PERFECT spot for a Hard Rock Hotel.  Hello?!

Some more photos of London, this time on an estate that I frequently visit due to a couple of family friends living there. It’s a brutalist looking estate that is shaped like a stadium, with flats all looking in one direction. This and trellick tower are definitely the most interesting estates in London due to their architecture, both near my flat as well, and are worth a visit for brutalist architecture buffs (although they are a bit ghetto so avoid going at night)

I'm fairly certain the lot is included in the Broadway historical overlay, meaning any new construction would need to conform to the guidelines.   Something in the 4-5 story range, similar to the new construction that went up on the Trail West site, could go there.     But, they may NOT TOUCH the National Register listed Silver Dollar Saloon building that is on that lot!

Nashville Archives said it was located at 234 3rd Avenue North. A few years ago with the horse and buggy sitting out front.

Whatever their other accomplishments (and they are many), the Greatest and Silent generations didn't have much appreciation for this kind of architecture.

Those buildings truly are amazing and sorely missed, even though they'd likely now be a discount boot shop or the future home of Insert Name Here Honkytonk Grill.

This seems to be one of the buildings that was on the site where the Stahlman Building now stands. The Stahlman was built as the Fourth National Bank, so the bank’s growth obviously led to the demolition of the smaller structure to make way for a larger HQ.

Taking off on vacation next week, so I won't be posting until after Memorial  Day.  I thought I would make the rounds of the office windows again.  Real progress in the Gulch.  333 has lots of frame up, Endeavor's Union is pouring the second floor and W has some walls and columns in the pit.  505 is really getting a presence and the Grand Hyatt is peeking above Union Station Hotel now.  Endeavor is getting work at the topmost box. Drury and the Joseph are showing over the Covention Building.  On the way home, I see demolition is about done on the storage facility on 6th ( the truck repair shop is already down) and the hotel next door (another Hyatt) is getting along well. Lastly the apartments across from the Howard Offices on 2nd are massing up nicely.  Enjoy.

Just a few more old Nashville (except the crane)  pics before I leave for Florida).  Note the old homes by the Capitol...very elegant back then.  President Polk lived in one of them. The L&C tower was back in 1957.
