Many Nashville crane more than NYC. :w00t:

Not to say that the Nashville figure is not EXTREMELY awesome and impressive, especially for a city it's size, but there is absolutely zero way that New York figure is anywhere close to being accurate as they currently have FIFTEEN buildings over 900 feet alone currently under construction.

Same intersection as seen by a firefighter in 1978.

Amazing comparison! Since the buildings are the same, the small changes to the intersection (crosswalks and tactile paving) really stand out, as does our modern obsession with vibrant greens in photographs. The OCD side of me is so happy to see that in the lane separators on 4th Ave are now aligned ... but is perplexed as to why there are four stripes on one side of Church and only three on the other, when both are the same width. (Google Streetview shows that until 2017 or so, there were five stripes on each side. Guess they're saving a bit of paint now )

I think it might.  Pretty sure that's Suntrust just to the left of the gap...right?

After recreating this angle with Google Earth, it appears that is the top of the Cumberland on Church Apartments. From my very scientific virtual flyover of the city via Google Earth, Suntrust Plaza appears to be too short to be seen from pretty much any angle when looking at the skyline from the north or the east.

The 5th + Broad office tower should pretty much fill that entire gap from this angle.  If this were looking directly south down 5th/6th, the 5th + Broad office tower would be largely blocked by 505 and First Tennessee Tower.
