Can't see things very well b/c can't enlarge photo. However, there appears to be a large mid-century modern(ish) building on Union between 5th and 6th Aves on the north side. Anyone know what that was?

I think that was the Andrew Jackson Hotel. It was at the corner of 6th & Deadrick and was 12 stories tall. That was my first guess and was correct as I was a wee baby in E TN when the photo was taken.

Torn down in 1971.  https://bygone-nashville.mtsu.edu/items/show/23

I’d estimate 90% of everything left (south) of Charlotte in that photo is gone, sadly.    War Memorial, the Hermitage Hotel, the Kress building and St. Mary’s Church remain, but not much else.    I think that’s the Ben West Library under construction on Union St.

Everything between Union & Charlotte (except for St. Mary's Church & the War Memorial) from 8th to 3rd has since been demolished.

We need some bright red and green to mix up the nighttime lighting. So much of the downtown lighting is dull lighting. At least with the KVB bridge and the Hyatt there are bright colors, but we need a lot more of that.

I also wish the Pinnacle cap could change colors as well. The Bridgestone lighting is just too subtle.

I wish Tony would outline 505 with lighting.

At this point, would that sort of capital improvement be funded by the 505 homeowners association? If that is the case, I cannot imagine any scenario where the owners of the units would want to take on that expense!

Can the lighting on the bridge be programmed to cycle through multiple changes in colors and settings or does it always have to be a static setting?  I think it would have also been cool if they had added lights to the horizontal connectors between the arches.

They can cycle through colors. I’ve seen them test that out before.
