I was going to try and work on this more this weekend and realize that this is a first effort. This is a rendition of future and under construction towers in the downtown and possible East Bank area.

Not sure if this has been posted before, but it's the one of the best drone shots (amazing quality) of the city that I have seen.

BUILDINGS THAT NEVER WERE.

This took me about a half a day to come up with but this is a list of buildings never built.  The bottom group was from a list that John Mathieson posted some time ago.

Have fun with this and now you can build your own Nashville SimCity with these. One note the 750' Nashville Tower was very futuristic resembling the Jetsons tower and I think I saw it one time. If anyone has the rendering please post it.

You left out the Marina City Center proposal, which also looked like the Jetsons Tower. I can't seem to locate a photo of the proposal.

Wow, so this was the one I thought was the 1975 but this was proposed in 04'. You would not happen to have a rendering of this tower would you??? 

I forgot to check Emporis and I may have a few more renderings of some projects after looking at this list. Thanks for the reminder.

It is important that we preserve this kind of history before the people that remember it are gone.

I believe these were two entirely different projects. The proposal from the '70s, I believe, was to be like the Nashville version of the CN Tower or the later Knoxville Sunsphere. Essentially an observation tower, but not a full-fledged skyscraper with occupied floors. Conversely, Marina City was an apartment building proposal that was widely panned for being way too out-of-place and comically futuristic.

Love all the fast and slow zooms...and spin transitions.  Wish they would have showed a few more clips at night.

On the towers not built...I loved the old Virgin version.  Would have been a great addition.  Also...the original 505CST was amazing.  Hope Tony revisits...along with Siggy.

Also...I think we definitely built the right MCC...even though I wish they would have activated the building with retail areas all the way around.  Would have really helped that neighborhood.

Here's one of my own architectural  proposals back way before Urban Planet (1983) .  Hell, even before the internet.  I wish I could find the other overall renderings...still looking.   I do have a bunch of hand drawn elevations I did. The site of this project was at the present Skyline Hospital.  It was a massive area from Dickerson Pike to I-65 and bounded by Due West and Briley Parkway.  Across  Dickerson Pike, there was a proposal including a 20 story Tennessee Financial Tower, a huge zoo proposal, an 18 hole golf course over by Brick Church Pike and over by I-24, an Olympic Equestion Complex.  The project on the east side of Dickerson was called Eurosphere and was to be  a massive mall with entirelly European tenants, including Harrods Department store out of London.  There were 3 high end residential complexes based on historic French, English and Swiss designs.   Even a working windwmill and a Belgian complex for chochlateers.  We got as far as negotiating with Gresham Smith  and Ragan Smith Associates to produce working drawings.  Then the US economy crashed  and the project was lost.  It included a full scale copy of the Flavian Arena from Rome, Big Ben and the Arch D'Triumph.   What you see here is the windmill and such up on top of the big hill by the hospital.  You got up there either by car or the world's longest escalators entered below from inside a replica of the Crystal Palace.  All the parking was completely in garages like the one you see screened by falling watter.  Renderings like these were all handpainted...this was old time work for us architects before computers were worth a damn. Hope y'all get a giggle out of my sheer audacity.

I will be doing a part two of projects that never were, however it will be incorporated into the master list. After doing more research I have found more than double the number of projects and a lot of renderings.  I hope Pete has some of these as I sent him the list.

Also if anyone has the rendering of the massive rerouting project of the Cumberland , please PM it to me. Also a project called Plaza of the Arts. I dont remember that one as well as the Marq of Nashville. This is the12 story that the Enclave sits on now. The neighbors got upset with the height.
