Is Charlotte considered a major city?

Can the city of Charlotte now call itself a major city? Do you feel this city has major city status?

With all of the tower construction I would be inclined to say yeah...however I think the Wachovia arts package gives Charlotte some separation from the mid-major city pack. To have cultural amenities to draw people in from all over and to offer them assymetrical ways of thinking IMO is a better way of defining a big city than any pro team. Give Charlotte time to grow a culture class and we will see even more growth. Pretty soon more than banks will call Charlotte its HQ city.
