theres a rumor that Food Lion will be opening at the former Winn-Dixie on 66, just north of Winston.

a new mixed-use development on the W-S/K-ville border is planned. i think its called Union Cross Town Center?, with upscale residential, retail and a movie theater. Im not sure which town will claim this.

In a similar item, Village of Clemmons have postponed a vote on the new development at Lewisville Road/I-40 until September. Many questions were raised about the viability of the residential portion of the development were raised in the last town council meeting so it appears that this development is going back to the drawing boards.

Boone Fabrics, a retailer specialising in drapery and upholstery fabrics, has opened a store in the Robinhood and Peacehaven area.

As a side note, this commerical area has seen an uptick in development in the past few months after being dormant for so long. Not sure why as residential development in the area is also flat too. Worth keeping an eye on this area for the near future.

Big Shotz Tavern is now open in Clemmons,

From the website

As long-time residents of Clemmons, Betty and John recognized the need for a truly great restaurant in the Clemmons/Lewisville area. Together, they planned and developed a unique upscale restaurant concept unlike any other in this area. Big Shotz Tavern has a wonderfully relaxed, casual, and comfortable atmosphere. I am pretty sure that Fresh Market was not getting its but kicked by HT and Whole foods... Actualyl Whole foods was suffering a few years back... eitherway... the rent charged by Saul Centers (Thruway) is exorbinate and they take any excuse as a chance to increase rent signifigantly... it is crazy acutally... I fail to see how raining TJs deli's rent to the point where they had to close was good for the shopping center... notice that the space has been vacant for years...

I am actually curious what and when another business will mve into the Fresh Markets spot there...

I see a real opening where Hanes is closing for another shopping center on Stratford in the long run anyway.

Fresh Market's new location is right between buena vista and sherwood forest etc... it is moving into a better space in the hear of its customer's area.... if anything moving between buena vista and sherwood will pick up more sherwood forest business... I think the new location is perfect for a high end food store and I would bet anything that the new space will (despite being signifigantly bigger) will cost less per month to operate.

While the Waughtown neighborhood does have some retail, it isn't the centers of activity like Hanes Mall Blvd., Stratford, University Parkway, Robinhood, Hanes Mill Rd, or even Peters Creek. There is investment here by start-up businesses, many that serve the ever changing demographic of this area.

The old Food Lion has been made into a mini-mall and the city is investing $675K to improve the commercial districts here. I think this area could turn into an "eclectic" shopping destination with shops that service ethnic and minority niches.

Kohl's is planning a $1 million dollar renovation at it's Hanes Point Shopping Center Store. The renovations will include new fitting rooms, a new lounge area, an updated store front with a white Kohl's sign and columns. Checkstands, paint, carpet, and flooring will be updated as well.

Marketplace mall has signed a new anchor, yet un-named.
