I was at the airport today when I saw a Ryan Air jet parked at the international arrivals terminal. I did a little research and found it's a budget Irish airline but the website didn't say anything about a flight to norfolk. Does anybody know anything about this?

well here is the flight:

also looks like Virginin is flying in from spain?

Thanks for that, but I looked at your second link and scrolled down to flight options and it's just a code share. All of the flights going to Norfolk on that link are coming from New York via US Airways.

Passenger traffic increased for the second month in a row. As I've flown both months, I can definitely attest to the fact that things have been busier. This is a good sign.

That's great news indeed...if it keeps up, it makes a great case for LRT expanding to the airport. At the very least, an expansion of some sort. As much as I love being able to get in and out quickly, this area should have a larger airport presence.

I wonder if the AAU Junior Olympics being in town helped spark the increase in traffic?

Did I read somewhere that an airport expansion is being planned within the next few years? It might be premature, but increased traffic is a great sign.

That expansion has been planned for a while . It got scrapped when the economy tanked. It's not impossible that they may reconsider now that things are back on track.

They could really do with a renovation regardless of an expansion. The whole motif in that airport just screams 70's. I'd like to see a bit of modernization in design if possible.

It's a very rare day when I agree with Kerry Dougherty but she's right on this one. I'm taking a trip to Dallas next month and I will be using Lyft to get to the Airport as opposed to Uber since the Uber deal fell through. Having multiple ways to get to the airport can only help the airport and make the area more attractive to businesses where easy access to an airport is a key requirement.

Plans for a second runway have been in the works for a while now, looks like they are going to have to fill in some of the nearby lake though

this article is from June, but I've seen newer plans else where about a month ago

American Airlines is adding a few flights to/from Chicago O'Hare starting in April. With three airlines flying back and forth from the Windy City, perhaps we'll start to see competitive prices. As a whole, it's exciting to see more options for flights to various destinations throughout the country to/from Norfolk.

Passenger traffic continues to rise at ORF. Close to nine percent in March 2016. This keeps up, and it could make a great case for expanding LRT to the airport, as well as expanding the actual airport.
