Rochester Pics

6 posts in this topic

A few pictures from a weekend trip to western NY. I only got to drive thru Rochester but after reading more on this forum about the abandoned subway system I wish I would have had more time to explore.

Nice buildings downtown. Too bad they have that ring highway cutting them all off from the rest of the city.

Someday they'll drop the Inner Loop and allow High Falls to be connected to the rest of Downtown. One can only dream.

I especially love that building in pic #9 (or sixth up from the bottom). Was that old Sibley's Department Store?

And wasn't there a main hotel called The Seneca downtown; and a famous large Italian restaurant somewhere nearby?

Rochester, where I once worked for a month in the winter of 1955, has always fascinated me.

Did you take these pix on a Sunday? There doesn't appear to be much pedestrian traffic.

Thanks for the memories. :)
