As Travelers have already made a commitment to bring more employees to Hartford, such a move would seem like a a natural progression. I didn't realize the three-year timing on their St. Paul commitment. Fingers crossed!

I have friends in Travelers from when I was working on their phones and they said that most fo the operations are already out of Hartford, just not the "official" HQ. There were stipulations from the spin-off from Citigroup and the merger with St. Paul was basically a bailout of St. Paul. Once the 3 years are up, it's on. I would expect the whole shebang to move back to Hartford....

Part of the advantage for St Paul -- or any other insurance company -- to move operations to the Hartford area is the insurance workforce here. There are far more trained and qualified workers in Hartford.
