Hawaii & Alaska's workforce continues to grow or?

Here's a little look at Alaska:

Seasonally Adjusted

Labor Force Jan. 2004: 342,716 *record

Employed: 317,725 *record

Unemployed: 24,991 (7.3% down from 8.1% in Dec)

Not Seasonally Adjusted

Labor Force Jan. 2004: 338,115

Employed: 307,876

Unemployed: 30,239 (8.9% up from 8.0% in Dec)

*Okay what the heck just happen up there can someone explain to me the difference between "Seasonally Adjusted and Non" cause they look whacked!

Seasonally Adjusted

Labor Force Jan. 2004: 627,883 *record

Employed: 603,189 *record

Unemployed: 24,694 (3.9% down from 4.4% in Dec)

Not Seasonally Adjusted

Labor Force Jan. 2004: 628,123

Employed: 604,395

Unemployed: 23,728 (3.8% up from 4.3% in Dec)

I'll post metro numbers for Jan when they are released!

Urbanguy - you just HAD to post that pic of the acrobats (or whatever you call them) here. :D

I'd imagine that much of the unemployment is in some of the cut off small Inuit towns in the state - in fact now that I think about it, I have no idea how well off those remote places are.

Alrighty here are some updates this info is for the month of January!

Honolulu:

Not Seasonally Adjusted

Labor Force Jan. 2004: 442,684 *record (up from 431,529 in Dec)

Employed: 427,313 *record

Unemployed: 15,371 (3.5% same as in Dec)

Anchorage:

Not Seasonally Adjusted

Labor Force Jan. 2004: 154,154 (down from 159,948 in Dec) *could be due to students going back to school or something?

Employed: 144,953

Unemployed: 9,201 (6.0% up from 5.2% in Dec) :(
