A little blurb in the Press today mentions that Verne Barry Place has received $500,000 from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis. This residential project on Division will be mainly for special needs individuals, and will help fill the void left by the YMCA going condo. I was thinking it was going to be artists loft space too :huh:

On that same brochure that you posted, it show that Commercial Equipment is moving to Walker. Actually, the two companies, CEC and WS Reed, are sister companies of the same national company, Global Imaging. They are going to be housed in the same building now. Can you say "consolidation?"

CEC is currently located on Oak Industrial. This and other vacant land down that way are leaving quite a hole on Oak Industrial. It would be nice to see another company like Integra buy up a couple of those parcels and redevelop the north side of that street. Right now, it looks pretty empty and depressing when you drive that road.

Rapistan (or, as they are currently being called since December, Dematic) is in the process of moving the entire engineering group from Detroit to the GR location. Bringing a lot of automotive engineering talent back to GR. Supposed to be completed by the summer. Watch for other announcements!

So, there will be a new five-story building as

well as renovation of three historic buildings

(maybe the ones pictured in the rendering)?

The copy is different than the drawing depicted -

anyone have a rendering of the new construction portion?

Does it maybe sound as if the covered parking is part of

the new building itself, and not surface covered parking?

Driving on S.Division between Oakes & Weston (east side of Division), it looked like a building was razed or at least a surface lot dug up. There are concrete barriers blocking off one lane. It seems pretty recent.

Does anyone know if and what was razed?

that kinda sounds like the old Douglas Brothers Building location . . . . .
