The developer who proposed Whitehall Village as an "upscale subdivision" for Walkertown said that plans for the housing subdivision have not changed.

At their meeting last week, some council members said they had worries that the ownership of the tract off N.C. 66 had changed and that the current owner might not follow through with promises made when the town council approved the subdivision last August.

Developer George Sowers told the council and residents last year that he planned for Whitehall Village to be an "upscale subdivision." Plans called for putting 130 single-family homes and 88 town houses on the property, which is on the north side of N.C. 66 between Darrow and Reidsville roads.
