On the third picture with the smoky blue skyline, I'm going to take a stab and guess Youngstown, Ohio. The large building at the right looks like the old Pick-Ohio Hotel.

and the last one...i know it's a western university town i've seen before...i'm choosing between pocatello, ID; ft. collins, CO & boulder.

You'd be right for the first three and the fourth as well. They are photos of New Haven, CT!

Here's one of my favorite cities I've ever visited. In case it's not obvious, it's in Europe, not the US. And the castle on the hill is also the cities namesake.

St Louis, MO. Well, suburban St Louis, actually. Clayton, MO

That was right. Clayton, Missouri.

That was a view toward the West. From the same location looking East you see this, which would give away the answer. Looking East, we see in order Clayton homes, Washington University, Forest Park, Central West End, Grand Center, and then downtown St. Louis and the Arch.
