A friend of mine lives in the destin condo building next door. He's in favor of this project, although there is a vocal group there that doesn't. He's smart enough to know that if you can live in the most desireable address in a three state region, living across the street is the next best thing.

Has anyone heard if this was approved today? I know several editorials were printed today about how the council should approve it.

i have no sympathy for the opponents... you live downtown you should expect that sort of development... if you dont like it, move, or get over it. you still live on downtown a hop and a skip away from beale street=your unit is still worth a lot of $$

Great news, indeed! A project of this size will take a good deal of time to complete architectural design, presale of condos and office, secure a hotel partner, and line up financing. But all sound good, and there's every reason to believe this will become a reality.

no i haven't right at the site, i'll have to check that one out, i can't wait for this project to get off the ground, it's the only one i really believe will happen.

I hate to say i agree... but the only other one i think has any shot is trinity tower... and i'm not sure why i think it will be a go...!!

I don't see horizon happening it's too far from everything....and while south main is nice there is not enough retail and activities to support such a massive project it's also too isolated and i haven't heard anything about it in quite a while

Being close to downtown, but then still having to get into a car to have fun is a big problem.

That's a problem I noticed with many of the South End proposals as early as '04.

I guess people ingrained with the car culture don't mind. To me, it would be infuriating.

Most of the studies for downtown resurgance show that walkability is a huge issue. If a trolly stopped at Horizon it would help.
