Skywalks

I know how much most of us hate skywalks, and although this photo isn't of one, it reminded me about grdad's complaint regarding the one over Pearl. Just be glad we don't have this over the Grand:

Reminds me of a scene in I Robot. But dispite the fact this photo is an example of bad urban planing, Japan dosen't have much choice but to shoe horn any developments where ever they can place them as space is at a premium over there. So I can't blame them for this skywalk gone nuts. But either way I'm glad we don't have that nighmareish scene here in GR. Overall given that winters can get harsh in Michigan, I don't find the skywalks that bad. In fact I like them especially for accessing the VanAndel Arena in the depths of winter. Sure skywalks can do a number at blocking the urban scenery. But, why freeze when I can get most of the way between car and distination in the conforts of a skywalk's HVAC system?

I contend that skywalks aren't "bad" when in a certain context. An example is that the whole context of the Entertainment, Convention and Arean district.
