My daughter lives in Asheville, where the Flatiron on Wall St is being turned into a hotel. My daughter attends a school in Montford, which is a trendy neighborhood. So, the Montford Bldg, I would deduce, was created by, or in the spirit of, Ashevillians?

BAR has given conceptual approval for Montford flatiron building.   Also, the proposed Moxy Hotel at 547 Meeting St received conceptual approval.   Interesting feature the guests check-in is on the 6th floor.

The 191-unit New Market Square Apartments rising off Huger Street near Palmetto Brewing Co. recently changed hands. A New York City firm that has other holdings in the Charleston area now owns the multifamily structure. It paid nearly $60 million.

$314k per key is a very high number by SE industry standards.

I'm still somewhat shocked that the office building (850 Morrison) has made survived it this far with the proposed design. 

The BAR did not give final approval at its Oct 23 meeting but did give final approval at its Nov 13 meeting for 838 and 850 Morrison Dr. 

The BAR also gave final approval for 1080 and 1090 Morrison Drive. 

With construction underway for the Charleston Technology Center at 999 Morrison Drive this area of town will be undergoing a huge transformation.

I hate to see a parcel of this size going for a parking garage with the shrinking availability of developable land on the peninsula.

Target coming to King Street

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Target will be moving into the old Forever 21 store in downtown Charleston.

 

Real Estate developer, The Beach Company, says the Target Corporation has leased 30,000 square feet of retail space at 211 King Street.

 

Also known as Majestic Square, the space in downtown Charleston’s historic district was previously used by clothier Forever 21.

 

Majestic Square is a mixed-use retail and office building located on the corner of King Street and Market Street.

The Montford flatiron building is up for final BAR approval at this coming week's meeting.  I wish this building had another 2-3 floors.

I should have added the project address is 810 Meeting St where Meeting St and Morrison Drive intersect.
