Charlotte Pride

The prevailing view from what I read as that conservatives with political intentions are relieved they no longer have to run against gay equal rights. They can say that the SCOTUS decided it and they disagree, yadda. The base and backward looking fringes will shout and complain but the relief to the candidates is complete. One less foolish thing to feverishly pursue for the sake of base votes. There are many more such things to suck up their time.

Feel like we still have a long way to go to really increase attendance.

The growth curve for Charlotte Pride has been phenomenal. In 2011, the first year on Tryon Street, attendance was just 27,000. Charlotte Pride grew leaps and bounds over lots of festivals that have run a lot longer and were more well established. I still think the wikipedia list is incomplete, but consider how many major American cities aren't even listed on it.

Pride seemed to grow starting in 012 when we hosted the DNC
