Downtown Ral Farmer's Market

I haven't seen any other posts here about this, so forgive me if I'm being redundant.

For those who don't know the Downtown Raleigh Alliance hosts a Farmer's Market in Moore Square every Wednesday, from 11am to 2pm. For those nearby, I highly recommend trying it out...and supporting this very worthy venture.

Unlike the State Farmer's Market, the downtown one emphasizes produce and food produced within a small radius of Raleigh itself. So you're definitely supporting very local farmers in this. And it brings foot traffic downtown, too.

It's starting off kinda small...barely a dozen vendors. But it's a start. I found some great fresh green beans, bell peppers and okra today. Last week a coworker of mine got some great watermelon and even fresh eggs!

The vendors vary each week, I've noticed, so you will see some good variety. There's even an ice cream vendor...local of course!

So if any of you who work or live downtown can take a few minutes on Wednedays at about lunchtime...give it a try if you haven't. Hopefully if popularity continues, this will grow each week and really be something big.

Thanks.

That sounds great. I always wondered why the Raleigh Farmer's Market is in such a remote location, well, at least not downtown anyway. I hope after the construction is done at Durham's Farmer's market they open up at some point during the week. Nothing like fresh, locally-grown produce!
