Back up to Mooresville on I-77 and the express lanes are looking more and more done.  WSOCTV the other night said it would be completely complete by Oct. 31 2019 but sections will open sooner like these north of I-485. New ramp to 77 express lanes at Hambright Rd is also shown (last photo)  Like the new sound walls finally for 77 north of I-485.

Yes that truck was being towed but with the wrong way crashes around here I would have had to go left on barrel through the toll lanes.

There's gonna be some awesome tailgating by rich dudes in a BMW angry that some person is going the speed limit in the one lane sections of the toll lanes.

Say what you will about legacy but I love the additional density it adds to the skyline. It helps taper the bookend effect a bit and ads some balance.

does anyone else think NC DOT has some of the biggest signage especially at major Interstate interchanges?  They are HUGE same up at 485/85 near Concord Mills.  I hope one of these never falls on someone they are as big as studio apartments.

They are epic and I love them. Some absolute monsters around Greensboro too.

I travel a lot around the USA and I don't remember many states that have signs this big not even in Texas!  I like them I just worry how they are attached and if we have gale force winds I would be concerned.

Drone video over I-77. All the toll construction (and noise walls) have really transformed the look of I-77 north of Uptown. It really makes Charlotte seem like a much bigger city than it already was.

After visiting larger northeastern cities, I feel as though this can only be because so many of their residents are here (and, additionally, they frustrated at thr small town timid drivers)

I don't think anyone has updated this recently, so here's my chance to contribute. I went to pick up my NC EZ Pass yesterday and the clerk told me the northern part of the toll lanes opens the first week of April. I'm not excited about them opening, but I'll be glad the construction is over. And, I-77 Mobility can't go bankrupt from lack of use until they open right?

And if you are wondering...I'll have a sticker just in case I ever do have to use the toll lanes since it's cheaper, but I don't plan on that being more than once every 6 mos or so.

^^^ Sounds good.  I have the sticker too it is free works in GA FL as well as NC and the Monroe Bypass.  I will occasionally use it as well but if there is a massive back up I will hop on for sure.

Couple things I noticed in my week's absence new signage going up at the 77 south ramp from 85 and still lots of construction (no change there)  Today.  Workers are present and shown. 

This is how they build interchanges in Texas last photo intersection of US 281 and Loop 410 in San Antonio.  When they rarely get ice watch out LOL!

521 in Meck County will also be widened to 6 lanes. The Lancaster portion will probably have to be 8 lanes or limited access with frontage roads some day unless they can find a way to build additional road network in the area.
