This was in The State today.

The Life Sciences Bill provides tax benefits for Biomedical companies, which will bring alot of needed high-paying jobs to SC. Sanford did not oppose that... what he opposed was raising the state's debt limit and making USC Sumter a 4 year school.

This change is what interests me the most. USC officials including President Sorensen did not want USC Sumter to be a 4 year school. This decision also comes after the controversial annoucement that 2 USC extention campuses at Salkehatchie and Union would be closed.

I think that it isn't necessary to have two 4 year schools in the same system that are in such proximity to each other. Not to say that USC Sumter doesnt deserve that distinction.... I just find it a little odd.
