New "intellicenter" coming to Fort Mill

Koll Development, based in Dallas, will construct a $20 million, 150,000-square-foot speculative office building on 17 acres on Gold Hill Road near Knights Stadium. When complete in late 2007, the building will be one of the country's first energy efficient "intellicenters" -- buildings that will be similarly designed as energy efficient for corporate companies in need of local or regional offices. No tenants have been confirmed for the building as of yet.

The architecture is vastly more interesting than most suburban office buildings, and I'm really glad they are making an effort to be energy efficient.

does this mean LEED certification is a possiblity? I'd like to see a few green roofs in Charlotte - this could be a good place to have one...

Good question. It certainly sounds like it would be a candidate. I'd like to see this building set the precendent for suburban office construction in the metro in this regard.
