It is very true, Arlington is the largest city in the coumtry without a transit system. Voters in Arlington turned down a tax increase for a bus system in 1985 and 2002. The city also chose not to become a member city of the Trinity Railway Express.

There was an article in yesterdays Star-Telegram about Arlington possibly joining the T (Fort Worth Transit) on a commuter rail line. One problem they have is the maximum that the city can raise their taxes is a 1/4 cent, which will not pay for much. They are working with the T on studying some alternative funding plans. Even if they can find the funding, it will likely be many years before commuter rail is running in Arlington.
