Louisiana Boardwalk SUED over dress code enforcement

Before I post the link to the article, let me say the following:

The Boardwalk, while funded partially with public money that must be repaid to the city by the developers, the property is still private property. The dress code is in place to protect not only patrons, but the businesses as well. I get tired of walking through Mall St. Vincent or Pierre Bossier Mall and having to see every little thug and wannabe thug's underwear. I also get tired of gang-related rags and the such. Women spend more money than men when shopping, and many of them bring their children shopping with them. If women don't feel safe shopping in the Boardwalk, they will spend their money somewhere else and the businesses in the Boardwalk will suffer, resulting in the Boardwalk's rapid decline just like what happened at South Park Mall. You remember South Park Mall, right?? The mall that these same type of thugs took over as their own battleground.

If it's private property and those are the rules then people are just going to have to deal with it. But unfortunately in today's sue-happy society some people would have this reaction to it.

that wouldnt happen down here in baton rouge... african americans dont think too kindly of officers harrassing us. We would take the law in our hands

That's kind of what's happened at Cortana Mall. It's the "black" mall now. When the Mall of Louisiana opened up it took a lot of buisness and all the people started going there and the stores started leaving. That's probably why they have so many sales and events. But I still think its a fairly nice mall, although there are next to no places to eat because some of the restaurants closed down. It's pretty safe there though, I've never heard of any violence there.

This also reminds me of a kid at my school who tries to act ghetto, but I know and every one else knows that he's a fake gangster.Even his friends think so. It is really annoying to watch him. I remember last year he made up some stupid group called "The Island Boys" and there is graffitti all over the school & gym that says "Island Boys"with their made up rapper names listed.;)

But I always try to make a point to dress appropriately. I'm always tell me frined not to dress like a huchie mama or she'll get pregnant. While that probably is a little extreme I'm just trying to make the point not to dress ghetto or scankily.

Sorry I wrote so much, but this kind of stuff makes me agitated. I mean if you dress rough and act tough, then you should expect the police to pick you up. Of course, I'll never supposedly have that problem because all my frineds tell me I act "white".

In today's Letters to the Editor: Follow Louisiana Boardwalk rules or go elsewhere by Kent Taylor of Bossier City. Very nicely said, and I agree wholeheartedly. The rules are set in motion for a reason, and they are to be followed. If a security officer at the Boardwalk tells you to adjust your pants, turn your hat, or take off your "do-rag," then you do it. If you don't, you will be asked to leave. And in the event you don't leave when you're told, there are always bicycle officers from the Bossier City Police Department on hand to take care of you. If you act like an idiot at the Boardwalk, expect to be either escorted out or arrested. That's just the way it is on private property... deal with it! The city SHOULD be able to do that on public property as well, if you ask me!

As a matter of fact, personal attacks are against the rules and will get a member banned fast.

I made my point, though: the poster has nothing intelligent to add to the conversation so he has to resort to ignorant, childish personal attacks. Makes sense... that's just the nature of the troll.

Remove yourself, troll, or a Mod or Admin might have to remove you. You're not wanted here.

I could understand why they would contact a lawyer

why? because the person sounds like white trash who just wants money?

In this case it was black trash, but trash nonetheless. Some people want to use any excuse to break the rules and get money for nothing... something that both you and I hear about a lot on the news here. It's the typical "something for nothing" attitude.

It's a shame, really. And the biggest shame is that some people will actually stand behind idiots like the people in question in this case.

something for nothing.. hahah.. this country was built on "something for nothing".. Things would be alot different if "trash" in the 1800's didnt want "something for nothing"

uhhhhh.....ok. I dont really see the connection between some jackass suing the boardwalk and bossier because he wouldnt pull his pants up and people in the 1800's

Stay on topic or get lost. You're got nothing to add to the topic at hand, even after having been warned by a moderator once already.

you are the one that needs to stay on topic, instead of following me around from post to post. I'm pretty sure the mods can do their job, without assistance. I guess the truth does hurt. But actually I have a feeling the Boardwalk will probably settle out of court, to avoid the negative publicity it would have in the news.. I'm just glad the consumer took a stand.. If you dont fight for your rights, then "you know who" will screw you everytime

Oohh, oooh, I know the answer. "The Man" will screw you over. Seriously though, Mr BTR, i bet you've been to a club in your day. Don't most night clubs have a dress code? If you don't abide by their rules, you will be asked to leave. Resist and/or act up, and we both know what will happen. Same principles apply at the Boardwalk... you either abide by their rules or you will be asked to leave. It's a private entity... if you think that's weak, then don't go. That's your right as a citizen.

Your personal attacks not only make very little sense, but they're also not worth my time.

But back onto the subject at hand...

Who is "you know who?" If you're going to make such a statement, you really ought to clarify.

It's hard to believe how in prison the orgins the pants actually got the name...s-a-g-g-i-n

Yep, and I think it's funny how these thugs thing sagging is cool... especially considering it started as a way for prisoners to show others that they were already "taken" by another prisoner. It's PRETTY funny. :D
