Had an opportunity to go down to 100 Oaks today and look at the progress going on. So far, a lot of the old facade is coming down (you can now see the original in some parts of the mall) with new facade already up in some areas. There's also been a lot of infrastructure work going on, blocking most of the entrances from Powell Ave.

An update on the progress made so far:

- New monumental signage has been erected at the Thompson Lane and Powell Ave entrances.

- Reebok and K&G have moved into new spaces on the first floor of the building.

- The bridge over the new main entryway is finished and traffic signals have been installed (they're not yet in operation).

- A new Logan's Roadhouse is being built on the corner of Thompson Lane & Powell (next to Regions Bank/Cheeseburger Charley's).

Article

Here's an article in today's Tennessean discussing the impact that VU might have on the area and future developments it might spur pending upon a better economy. Evidently this is going to attract quite a bit of traffic to the area as well as high paying jobs (750 to be exact). I plan to check it out personally if only for the Einstein Bros. Bagles that will be inside. :P

Lord knows Vaderbilt has done an immesurable amount for Midtown Nashville and West End; almost like the areas they touch turn to gold. Might this be the next area to see explosive growth? Again, upon the arrival of a better economy...

Another one bites the dust...

Not looking good for the moment. Retailers are dropping like flies. I think the Expo was more high end though. Looks like this recession is going to last longer than first thought.

Franklin Land Associates, an affiliate of Brentwood-based GBT Realty Corp., said Tuesday it entered into an agreement to purchase the Home Depot Expo Design Center building at 100 Oaks in Nashville.

GBT Realty is working with potential users for all or a portion of the 95,000-square-foot building, including retail, medical and office tenants, said George Tomlin, the firm's president and CEO.
