The Palmetto Bank is moving its headquarters to Greenville, SC in 2008. Palmetto, a community bank that is currently based in Laurens, will construct a new building at 306 E North St., the present site of its Greenville branch. The current building will be demolished in late May, with the bank erecting a four-story, 45,000-square-foot structure in its place. Groundbreaking on the new building will commence the third week of June, with delivery scheduled for June 2008. Palmetto will move the Greenville branch to a temporary location at 105 N Church St. until the new building is completed. McMillan Smith & Partners is the architect of the project, with Harper Corporation handling the construction. Palmetto presently serves 32 locations across the Upstate.

Update:

The downtown Palmetto Bank will close its doors for the last time on Friday, May 18. The temporary bank next door will open on the following Monday, and construction of the new building is expected to be complete mid-late 2008. :shades:

Passed by this evening and the building is completely gone. Just a few piles of rubble. Just missing that two story building really changes the view and feel. I think the new building that replaces it will drastically change the feel on that corner. It will help extend downtown.
