Your Alma Mater

21 posts in this topic

So, here's a topic so that all you people out there can make known where you currently attend or have attended in the past. So, just the name of the school, and, if you have them, the words to your Alma Mater.

I currently attend Decatur High School in Alabama. Here're the words to DHS's Alma Mater:

Hail, to thee, our Alma Mater

By the Tennessee

Through the years we'll oft remember

Days we spent with the

-

Here's to thee, our dear old high school

Here's to thee a song

May the happy memories of thee

Linger with us long

-

Soon our faithful band will server

Soon our ways will part

Friendship ties will live forever

Engraven in our heart

-

Always faithful, always loyal

To our ensign bold;

Hail to thee, our Alma Mater

Decatur High, All Hail!

Hanover High in Hanover, MA. I don't think there was an official alma mater, but our marching band fight song was "The Victors," from U. Michigan. I went to college at Bridgewater State (also in MA).

Haha, our highschool's fight song is the Notre Dame Victor March. Which is strange, since no one in Alabama really likes Notre Dame.

I'm still in college. My Alma Mater is Saint John's University in Minnesota:

Fight, you Johnnies, fight you Johnnies

Stand and fight like men for old Saint John's

Fight, you Johnnies, fight you Johnnies

You are Alma Maters own true sons!

Show the world what SJU can do,

The fighting Johnnie spirit will win through!

Make the victory greater for your dear old Alma Mater

And the Cardinal and Blue.

Rah rah rah rah rah, ooh-rah, Saint John's

Rah rah rah rah rah, ooh-rah, Saint John's

(repeat)

I graduated from the University of South Carolina and our alma mater is below. When the last line of each stanza is sung, we lift an imaginary glass in a toast. Maybe that explains why there are so many bars in Columbia? ;)

We hail thee, Carolina, and sing thy high praise

With loyal devotion, remembering the days

When proudly we sought thee, thy children to be:

Here's a health, Carolina, forever to thee!

Since pilgrims of learning, we entered thy walls

And found dearest comrades in thy classic halls

We've honored and loved thee as sons faithfully;

Here's a health, Carolina, forever to thee!

Generations of sons have rejoiced to proclaim

Thy watchword of service, thy beauty and fame;

For ages to come shall their rallying cry be:

Here's a health, Carolina, forever to thee!

Fair shrine of high honor and truth, thou shalt still

Blaze forth as a beacon, thy mission fulfill,

And crowned by all hearts in a new jubilee:

Here's a health, Carolina, forever to thee!

beautiful campus... but it looks like they block access to the waterfront with trees and stuff... why not open it up a bit?

There are two beaches and a park/garden that are on the lake, but they are not visible in the picture. Part of the mission of the university is to be environmentally sustainable, and part of that means maintaining a natural shoreline. This is many times more productive for wildlife than a manicured shoreline, so they use as little as they can.

MSU Shadows (Michigan State)

MSU, we love thy shadows

When twilight silence falls,

Flushing deep and softly paling

O'er ivy covered halls;

Beneath the pines we'll gather

To give our faith so true,

Sing our love for Alma Mater

And thy praises, MSU.

MSU FIGHT SONG

On the banks of the Red Cedar

Is a school that's known to all;

Its specialty is winning,

And those Spartans play good ball;

Spartan teams are never beaten,

All though the games they fight;

Fight for the only colors,

Green and White.

Go right thru' for MSU,

Watch the points keep growing.

Spartan teams are bound to win,

They're fighting with a vim

RAH! RAH! RAH!

See their team is weakening,

We're going to win this game.

Fight! Fight! Rah! Team, Fight!

Victory for MSU!

snowguy, fantastic campus, what school is that?

Im a graduate of Western Michigan University, here's our alma mater.

Western we sing to you,

Brown & Gold,

Western we bring to you,

faith untold.

You challenge and inspire;

your hope is our desire.

We sing to you our Alma Mater,

Brown and gold.

Not too creative or flashy, but oh well.

Well, since I just recently got accepted to the University of Alabama, I'll post the good ole' U of A's Alma Mater.

ALABAMA, LISTEN, MOTHER,

TO OUR VOWS OF LOVE,

TO THYSELF EAND TO EACH OTHER,

FAITHFUL FRIENDS WE'LL PROVE.

FAITHFUL, LOYAL, FIRM AND TRUE,

HEART BOUND TO HEART WILL BEAT.

YEAR BY YEAR,

THE AGES THROUGH UNTIL IN HEAVEN WE MEET.

COLLEGE DAYS ARE SWIFTLY FLEETING,

SOON WE'LL LEAVE THEIR HALLS NE'ER TO JOIN ANOTHER MEETING

'NEATH THEIR HALLOWED WALLS.

FAITHFUL, LOYAL,

FIRM AND TRUE HEART BOUND TO HEART WILL BEAT YEAR BY YEAR

THE AGES THROUGH UNTIL IN HEAVEN WE MEET.

SO, FAREWELL,

DEAR ALMA MATER MAY THY NAME,

WE PRAY,

BE REV'RENCED EVER,

PURE AND STAINLESS AS IT IS TODAY.

FAITHFUL, LOYAL,

FIRM AND TRUE HEART BOUND TO HEART WILL BEAT YEAR BY YEAR,

THE AGES THROUGH UNTIL IN HEAVEN WE MEET.

I am a proud graduate of The College of Charleston in South Carolina. I don't recall an official song or slogan. I would just warn prospective Cougars not to party too much on Folly Beach and try not to trip on the loose bricks all over campus :silly: I went to Hilton Head High School and our's went something like "oh our high school by the sea oh oh" or something. I really don't remember or care as I HATED every second of High School and never want to see that evil building again :angry:
