[Ashland] Downtown strucutre renovation hits snags...

7 posts in this topic

Good gosh. That has to be some of the worst exterior renovations I have ever seen.

The renovations in the 1960s were nothing more than some concrete tile material. Resembled nothing more than office ceiling tiles. I'm suprised they didn't begin to pop off, as what happened with the siding at the old Gibson's Furniture Store a few blocks away (the facade was torn down in the 1990s).

Unfortunately, the renovation during that time took off most of the ornate concrete/whatever work that was there, and there was a lot.

They would have been better off to just stick some sheet metal facade plates up there like they did in many downtowns in the 60s, at least then usually the underlying original facade stayed intact.

I agree with RK. That is some of the MOST hideous crap I have ever laid my eyes on. It almost hurts to look at it. LOL!!!
