Civil Unions in NH?

Recommended Posts

From the AP...

New Hampshire Governor John Lynch, who enjoys surging approval ratings, said this week that he would "strongly consider" approving a civil unions bill if the legislature brought it to his desk.

Lynch, largely considered a shoe-in for reelection with an approval rating topping 70 percent, blasted republicans this week for turning a study committee on civil unions for same-sex couples into a "political circus" and said the issue deserves a full and fair review. A WMUR-TV poll released Thursday shows Lynch trouncing Republican Rep. Jim Coburn 69 percent to 14 percent.

Lynch raised eyebrows in Concord last year when he appointed openly gay Rep. Ray Buckley to a legislative study commission on civil unions. Buckley is an outspoken supporter of gay marriage.
