To get a good laugh, read some of the comments accompanying the article on Charlotte.com. I busted out laughing when I read this one:

"Charlotte........What happens here....oh, that's right, nothing happens here."

By the way, I'm not taking these seriously, they're just good for laughs.

I have a distinct feeling that the slogan will incorporate Nascar somehow. To the tune of "Charlotte: Start your engines" or something similar. Successful city slogans relate to each metros "it" factor and Nascar is clearly our niche, whether some of us like it or not :shades::lol:

Not trying to argue with you, but I hope NASCAR is not tied into our motto. Nothing against the sport at all, but there is a strong stereotype on the sport, associating the city's identity with it could deter some.

I'm hoping Charlotte's motton will be completely original like "I  NY" which has little to do with the city's "it" factor. I would also say "What Happens Here, Stays Here," but now that I think about it, "What happens" in Vegas is gambling, and what "stays" is your money.

I do have to say that "You can bank on it" get's my vote so far.

  • Charlotte: We're Kind of a Big Deal

  • Charlotte: City of Gold

  • Charlotte: We'll Do Anything for Your Money

  • Charlotte: The Other Queen City

  • Charlotte: Somewhere Between Atlanta and Richmond

  • Charlotte: Inferiority Complex, USA

  • Carolina: Formerly Known as Charlotte (one for the sportscasters)

I like the slogan "You can bank on it" too. Or maybe you could change it up:

"You will love Charlotte...We'll bank on it!"

"Charlotte: Culture in the Bank"

"Charlotte: If you build it they will come"

"Charlotte: We're cooking with gas" (Johnston & Wales and nascar)"

"Charlotte: Sir Pur will kick you A#$!"

"Charlotte: 2 fast 2 furious"

"Charlotte: Planes, trains, and racecars"

Ok...these are going downhill fast!
