The Deep River

Does anyone know about the Deep River that runs through Guilford County? Can it be used for recreational purposes? How can it be accessed? The only link I have is one from About.com.

Don't know much but I doubt you can navagate it. If im not mistaken....they are building a large dam on it down in Randelman. Also from the looks of it off the Bus 85 bridge...it looks kind of small. I belive it's also connected to Oak Hollow Lake at that dam in City Lake Park but im not sure.

I know of it southeast of Greensboro through Randolph and northeast Moore counties. The bridges that go over it, generally are pretty high up from the river. It would not suprise me if there are small scale waterfalls somewhere along that river southeast of Coleridge.

When I was a kid, my family tried canoeing on it a few places, and what I remember was it being mostly dammed up, and flat water. It's also downstream of Greensboro's treated sewage (yuck).
