PITTSBURGH - According to Equity Research Gaming published by the Susquehanna Financial Group, there are new odds predicting the applicants to operate a stand-alone casino in Pittsburgh. It comes in the wake of the recent buyout offer for Harrah's and the new ownership of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

According to ERG, the odds for the Isle of Capri bid have increased, the odds for the Station Square gaming has decreased, and the odds for PITG have stayed the same.

This puts the Isle of Capri in the lead. The winner is expected to be announced in December.

Even though I am not pro-gambling, I would like to see whatever casino we do get be an upscale resort type of facility. I think Isle of Capri could take it there with the images I have seen so far. It would be nice to be known for more of a Monte Carlo type feel than cheap Atlantic City. It could offer all of the higher end gaming, plus a luxury spa and hotel. Perhaps this would also help with our image internationally, instead of grouping us in with the casinos in West Virginia.
