Two City Plaza

II City Plaza(left) added 260,000 sq ft of Class "A" office space to the CBD last year...it had been roughly 20 years(though media continues to get it wrong saying 25 where they included City Plaza-right) since a "non governmental" 12+ story building had been built downtown....hopefully it will not be another 20 years before another is built...

II City Plaza is 12 stories... the article says 11..but who's counting :whistling:

Maybe have to check this restaurant out....

BR owner offers big-city contemporary bistro

Located on the ground level of II City Plaza, an 11-story office complex at Fourth and Convention streets in downtown Baton Rouge, the place features a crisp, minimalist decor with a long glass wall overlooking a courtyard terrace planted with palm trees and bamboo. A bar of polished granite is situated at one end of the room with sofas and lounge chairs nearby. Photographs and several large abstract paintings by DeAngelo’s father, Lou DeAngelo, provide splashes of color to the muted hues of the décor.

“People invariably tell me the restaurant reminds them of places they’ve been in L.A. or Dallas or D.C.,” De Angelo said.

Since its December 2011 opening, Zolia has developed an enthusiastic clientele that includes downtown professionals, empty-nesters and diners who come to enjoy the restaurant’s lighter, refreshing approach to food.

Downtown Distinction
CITY PLAZA PARKING FACILITY

The Downtown Maintenance Committee has recognized the sixth downtown business with outstanding exterior maintenance and beautification. The City Plaza Parking Facility, located at the corner of Fifth Street and North Boulevard, was awarded the August Downtown Distinction Award for their outstanding efforts in the Parking Facility category.

The City Plaza parking facility is managed by Wampold Companies. City Plaza was constructed in 1985 and acquired and renovated by Wampold Companies in 1999.

As a reminder, each month a downtown business or organization will be selected from a different category to highlight the variety of businesses and organizations contributing to downtown's quality of place and community pride. At the end of twelve months, citizens will vote on which of the previous award winners deserve the 'People's Choice' Award!

Congratulations to the City Plaza Parking Facility!! Stay tuned for September's Downtown Distinction award winner in the Churches/Non-profit category.
