From the Kansas City Star:

KC company to design stadium in New York

By KEVIN COLLISON The Kansas City Star

A Kansas City firm has captured one of the biggest commissions ever in sports architecture, a proposed $1.4 billion stadium for the New York Jets in Manhattan.

Heinlein Schrock Stearns, a small firm founded eight years ago by a pair of 40-something partners, has been named sports design architect for the stadium project, which city and state officials are scheduled to announce today.

The stadium is part of an extensive redevelopment of the city's West Side that will not only provide a 75,000-seat home for the Jets football team but also double the size of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The project is also designed to help lure the 2012 Summer Olympics to New York.
